Controlling your thoughts
This simple intervention has a powerful, neural-chemical effect in your nervous system. You can control this impact with your thought selections.
Your thoughts will generate a neurological pathway. That is inevitable. But you can control the nature of your thoughts. You either forfeit this control or allow someone else to dictate it (by becoming the victim), or you direct it with your conscious intervention of thoughts until it becomes a habit.
Studies about the power of thought are making their way into mainstream science. The brain can form neurological connections -- new learning -- throughout life, and we know thoughts transverse from electrical to chemical.
The application to you is that as an individual committed to excellence, it is not an option; you must control your thinking. It is vital to recognize that all thoughts have a physiological impact directly related to the nature of the thought. Positive and negative thoughts have a powerful impact on your physiology, your chemical state and your actions.
It's a matter of making decisions, adopting a standard and living with near-zero tolerance for negativity and unhealthy circumstances and people. It doesn't mean that these circumstances or people will disappear. It just means that your reaction to them will be more powerful, peaceful and constructive.
Through repetition and time, it will become a habit, and you will have a positive "addiction" to being powerful, calm and resourceful in nearly all situations and circumstances. Don't worry; you won't turn into a passive person of whom others take advantage. You will turn into a powerful person who gets things done and lives without unwanted anger and hostility.
