Document Setup: Pre-press Checklist

1. Fonts: Use only Type 1, True type, and Open type fonts. Multiple master fonts should not be used. Be sure to include all fonts, or convert all type to outlines (preferred).
2. Images should be converted to CMYK unsing the U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 profile. RGB and SPOT colors are not accepted. Effective image resolution should be at least 300 dpi and saved in either TIFF or EPS format. JPG compression should be turned off and do not use LZW compression.
3. Black type smaller than 9 pt should be 100% black, set to overprint. Our printer does not guarantee registration of type under 9 pt with a CMYK build.
4. White objects or type should be set to knock out, not overprint.
5. Document size: Ads can be submitted in the following dimensions:
   •Cover: 10.625" x 10.125" (framed live area), 10.875" x 10.375" (bleed)
   •Full Bleed Spread: document trim size is 21.25" x 15", full bleed is 21.5" x 15.25", live area is 10.25" x 14"
   •Full Bleed Page: document trim size is 10.625" x 15", full bleed is 10.875" x 15.25", live area is 9.625" x 14"
   •Full Page No Bleed: 9.625" x 14"
   •Junior Page: 7.2" x 10"
   •1/2 Page Horizontal: 9.625" x 6.9"
   •1/4 Page: 4.73" x 6.9"
   •1/8 Page: 4.73" x 3.375"
   •1/16 Page: 4.73" x 1.65"
6. Bleed should extend 1/8 inch (.125 in.) beyond document for all full page ads intended to bleed
7. Naming: The file should be named with your company name followed by the month and year of the issue your ad will run in (example: CompanyName_04-06.indd, CompanyName_07-06.pdf) If you send a low resolution PDF proof, please label it as such (example: CompanyName_05-06_PROOF.pdf)
