The spread was designed by Wunsch and interactive designer Chuck Howard. Wunsch and Howard also were recognized for their work on “The Case for Sustainability Grows Stronger,” which appeared in the August 2011 residential edition. For best design of a feature article, Wunsch and senior designer Deborah Richardson collaborated on “5 Things Lenders Look for in a Borrower,” which appeared in the July 2011 commercial edition.
Editor Jennifer E. Garrett received the best-department award, which was given to her Spotlight features in the September, October and November 2011 commercial editions of Scotsman Guide.
Property TypeCast -- a monthly column covering trends in major property types by Reis Inc.'s Victor Calanog -- took home the best-column award. The Property TypeCast archives can be seen here.

The free search tools allow residential and commercial mortgage brokers to find lenders that fit their specified criteria. Scotsman Guide's creative director, Dennis Wunsch, placed second and third in the best cartoon/illustration in a magazine category. The second-place illustration accompanied "Find Big Business in Self-Storage" in Scotsman Guide's February 2011 commercial edition. The third-place illustration accompanied "Is There a Doctor for the House?" in Scotsman Guide's November 2011 residential edition.
Senior Designer Deborah Richardson was honored along with Wunsch for their work on the spread design and layout of "Cultivating the Student-Housing Market," which appeared in Scotsman Guide's December 2011 commercial edition. The design earned second place in the best spread design/photo essay in a magazine category.

Scotsman Publishing Inc. (dba Scotsman Guide Media) was selected from among more than 400 companies nominated for consideration and was one of the winners in the small-company category.
