Healthy appraiser relationships
Continued... (go to previous page) (go to beginning)

This task is easier than you might think if you approach and engage appraisers properly. When lenders get the borrower to pay for the appraisal at the door, combined with a quick inspection by the appraiser, your competition almost always is shut out.

Follow through
Like most lenders, appraisers are human. Although they usually have the best of intentions, they can let some things fall through the cracks in today’s fast-paced environment.

It is not enough to ask the appraiser for an inspection appointment with the borrower within 24 hours of ordering the appraisal. A better option is to maintain — or even outsource — a structured follow-through plan to achieve desired results consistently.

Implementing this and other tactics above will better your appraiser relationships and help close more loans.
