The “something happens” simply was that the shipping company did not pick up the package. My brain processed my similar experiences, how I scheduled the pickup and my relationship with the shipping company. My brain then told me to panic.
Next, I projected to the future and created a story about how my package would not reach the clients, how I would lose this potential booking and what could be wrong with the shipping company. Then I noticed that I was attached to being a victim and blaming. I was attached to proving that I was the correct one.
I decided to stay focused in the here and now, where there was no anger. I emptied my future, returned all of my negative experiences back into the past — where they belong — and simply let go. I stayed focused in the now. In turn, I had a conversation with the shipping company, and more importantly, I found a solution. I was no longer upset about the situation.
By practicing the art of staying focused in the here and now, you will turn frustration into fascination every time. It’s easy, and it will reduce your stress level tremendously. This “empty” future will help you create a compelling life. You deserve it.
