Bothell, WA -- April 1, 2010 -- Scotsman Guide, the leading resource for mortgage originators, has released its first Top Originators rankings. The list, which ranks the nation's top mortgage brokers, originators and bankers, appears in Scotsman Guide's April 2010 residential edition, with expanded rankings online at scotsmanguide.com/Top2009.

Scotsman Guide worked with former Mortgage Originator magazine editor David Robinson -- whose former publication had produced a similar ranking for the past 13 years -- to create this year's list, which will be the industry's most comprehensive list of its kind. About 600 mortgage professionals entered their information for the ranking. More than 150 top entrants appear in print, and more than 220 are listed online.

The Top Originators 2009 list ranks mortgage originators by their: overall volume; loans closed; Federal Housing Administration-loan volume; purchase volume; refinance volume; and volume gain from 2008 to 2009. To be eligible for initial consideration, originators must have had at least $30 million in loan volume or 100 closed home loans for the 2009 calendar year. Only loans and volume that originators closed personally could be considered. After receiving submission, Scotsman Guide required written verification of each originator's volume from a certified public accountant, the chief financial officer at the originator's company or a similar source.
