Former Freddie Mac executive will lead FHA

A former Freddie Mac executive has been picked to lead the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), according to several media reports.

The Obama Administration plans to name Ed Golding, a senior advisor with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, media outlets have reported based on internal HUD memos. He worked for Freddie Mac for more than 23 years before leaving as the senior vice president of models, missions and research in 2012. He also was a visiting fellow with the Urban Institute and visiting faculty at Princeton University.

Golding will become the principal deputy assistant secretary in the Office of Housing, according to reports. He will begin to transition into the job after April 7. Acting FHA Commissioner Biniam Gebre will be moved over to senior advisor. Gebre has been the acting FHA commissioner since August 2014.
