Mortgage rates move down

The key mortgage rate moved down over the week to hit a six-week low, Freddie Mac reported.

The 30-year fixed rate averaged 3.9 percent, down three basis points from the prior week. A year ago, the rate averaged 3.45 percent. The 15-year fixed rate was unchanged, but five-year adjustable mortgages ticked down one basis point to 3.15 percent.

Freddie Mac Chief Economist Sean Becketti said mortgage rates moved down along with Treasury yields, which fell four basis points.
