Mortgage applications move up


Mortgage activity bounced back in the week following the Thanksgiving holiday as key rates ticked down slightly, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported

For the week ending Dec. 1, MBA’s adjusted applications index increased by 4.7 percent compared to the prior week, which was adjusted for the holiday. The refinance index increased 9 percent and the adjusted purchase index rose 2 percent.

The refinance share of applications rose 2.9 percentage points to 51.6 percent of total applications, the highest level since September.
