FHFA: Home prices slightly gain steam

Home prices rose 0.3 percent in October and were up 5.7 percent annually, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) reported. The monthly gain was slightly higher than the 0.2 percent bump in September, the agency said.

Over the month, home prices ranged from a decline of 0.6 percent in the South Atlantic to an increase of 1.4 percent in the Pacific. Year over year, prices were up in all regions, ranging from 3.3 percent in the mid-Atlantic to 8.5 percent in the Mountain region.

FHFA’s indices are based on homes bought with loans sold to, or guaranteed by, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
