Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, July 13-July 17

 
Fercho

Wells Fargo has announced that Kristy Fercho will join the company at the beginning of August as the new head of Wells Fargo Home Lending. Fercho, who has 18 years of leadership experience in the mortgage industry, will join the company from Flagstar Bank, where she has served since 2017 as president of the company’s mortgage division. Prior to joining Flagstar, she spent 15 years with Fannie Mae, where she led the strategy and business performance of single-family customers in the western United States and also served in customer engagement and human resources roles. She began her career at Baxter International before moving to Pepsico Inc., where she ultimately was director of worldwide corporate human resources.

 
Cartellone

First National Bank (FNB) has hired Joseph Cartellone as executive vice president and director of mortgage services. Cartellone, based in Pittsburgh, will focus on the continued expansion of the mortgage services division and on enhancing and streamlining the customer experience through new processes and technology. He brings more than 32 years of mortgage banking experience to FNB, having held executive roles with Chase, PNC and most recently BBVA Compass, where he served as head of mortgage banking and consumer lending. He studied economics at the University of Cincinnati and is a graduate of the Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Executive Leadership Development program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

 
Tague

Mike Tague has rejoined Interfirst Mortgage Company as vice president of Western Division production for the wholesale channel. In his new role, he will focus on growing Interfirst’s wholesale channel throughout the West by adding account executives as the company expands across the United States. Mr. Tague brings with him 30 years of mortgage industry experience, having held the position of vice president of wholesales at various lenders, including The Money Source, Peoples Home Equity, Ethos Lending and Finance of America Mortgage. Tague first joined Interfirst in 2011.

 
George

Merchants Capital has announced the hiring of Dwayne George as executive vice president and national head of production. In his new role, his primary responsibility will be to lead the company’s sales team, where he will be working closely with sales office leads in New York, Minneapolis, Indianapolis and Chicago. George has 15 years of multifamily production and management experience, having previously held positions at Greystone and Northmarq. Most recently, he served as senior director of target affordable housing production at Freddie Mac, as well as senior underwriter in Freddie’s Target Affordable Housing Group. George is a graduate of Goucher College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management. He also holds a master’s degree in Real Estate from Georgetown University.

Von Kaenel

Sagent has appointed mortgage tech veterans Tim Von Kaenel as chief innovation officer and Shawn Stroud as director of information security. Von Kaenel has held leadership positions at a number of fintechs, including chief product officer at LoanDepot and point-of-sale leader at Cloudvirga. Stroud joins Sagent with 25 years of mortgage information security experience, most recently at Computershare.

 
Minton

Mortgage Connect LP has announced the addition of Gabe Minton as chief information officer. Minton comes with more than 26 years of experience developing next generation platforms, most recently as executive vice president and chief information officer at Guild Mortgage. He has also served as senior vice president and chief information officer at PHH Mortgage, and, prior to that, served in senior management positions with Black Knight’s ServiceLink, Motivity Solutions, Accenture Mortgage Cadence, and the Mortgage Bankers Association.

 
Lipoff

Eastern Union has promoted Jacob Lipoff to lead the company’s newly centralized QTS Banking and Capital Markets Division. Holding the title of executive managing director, he will manage the firm’s full scope of banking relationships. Lipoff, who is based in Bethesda, Maryland, joined Eastern Union as senior managing director in the firm’s Mid-Atlantic Region in September. He had previously worked with the Washington, DC office of Meridian Capital, and had served as chief operating officer with the Chateau Ridge Group.

 
Bales

Proper Title has hired Richard Bales as senior underwriting consultant and counsel. Bales will provide counsel to attorneys, examiners and closers to help ensure smooth closings as the firm rapidly expands. Bales joins Proper Title after just three months in retirement, after recently completing a 31-year career at Chicago Title Insurance Company, most recently as assistant regional counsel. He has a bachelor’s degree from Illinois College in Jacksonville and a juris doctorate degree from Northern Illinois University.

 
Suihkonen

Appraisal, valuation and foreclosure firm LRES Corporation has added Tina Suihkonen as senior director of commercial services. Suihkonen will lead LRES’ commercial default services division and help provide nationwide commercial trustee and foreclosure services. She has been in the commercial trustee services industry for over 20 years.
