Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, Feb. 3-10

United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) named Andrew Hubacker as its new chief financial officer. Hubacker will assume the position immediately and will oversee all financial aspects of the company, including accounting; internal and external reporting; financial compliance; tax, treasury and liquidity management; and budgeting and forecasting. Hubacker originally joined the company in October 2020 as chief accounting officer and took on the role of interim principal financial officer in July 2022. Prior to joining UWM, Hubacker spent 18 years at Deloitte & Touche LLP, including 12-plus years as an audit partner. He also spent time at AOL LLC and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Defy Mortgage announced the appointment of Michael Rogan as chief operating officer. His nearly 30-year career in the mortgage and retail banking industry includes leadership roles with HSBC, Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan Chase. 

PrimeLending announced the promotion of Kim Dybvad to vice president and area manager for Mid-America, with responsibility for loan origination production in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Kentucky. Dybvad joined PrimeLending in 2013, bringing more than 30 years of experience in the mortgage industry to her new role. She began her career as an originator in 1988 at Savings of America and held a range of leadership production roles at National City Bank, PNC Bank and Union Savings before joining PrimeLending. 

CMG Home Loans announced that Wendy Landis, who has more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry, has been named branch manager of its new locations in York and Hanover, Pennsylvania.

Home Partners of America announced that Jennifer Deason has been appointed as the company’s next CEO, effective Feb. 27. Most recently, Deason launched Belong Capital and Flowcode, and she previously held key senior leadership positions at Sotheby’s, The Weather Company, Bain Capital and McKinsey.

Genworth Financial Inc. announced that Jerome Upton will be appointed as executive vice president and chief financial officer, while Kelly Saltzgaber will be appointed as executive vice president and chief investment officer. Upton is currently serving as Genworth’s senior vice president, deputy CFO and controller (principal accounting officer). Saltzgaber is currently serving as Genworth’s senior vice president and head of portfolio management.

WFG National Title Insurance Co. (WFG) appointed 30-year title and real estate industry veteran Chad Huston as senior vice president and regional manager for the company’s national commercial title services San Francisco Bay Area region. Huston will support the growth and expansion efforts for the national underwriter’s commercial title business. Prior to joining WFG, he managed strategic national accounts for another national underwriter for more than 20 years.

Auction.com announced that industry veteran Joe Cutrona has been hired as its chief business officer. Cutrona will oversee business development and online operations, including maintaining and creating new client relationships and optimizing the online platform’s capacity to execute at speed during and through a unique real estate cycle. Before Auction.com, Cutrona spent 10 years with Xome as its division president and senior vice president, and he also worked at CoreLogic and United Western Bank.
