Industry Watch: Caliber files suit against CrossCountry, PMG adds partner and more

Caliber Home Loans filed a lawsuit against CrossCountry Mortgage, alleging that CrossCountry perpetrated a scheme that involved raiding workers and stealing company secrets. According to the suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, CrossCountry poached more than 80 Caliber employees, including 40 loan producers, from 18 locations in six states. These employees accounted for more than $2.3 billion per year in originations. The suit’s allegations stem from emails in which CrossCountry appeared to recruit a former Caliber branch manager, Mark Everts, who then remained with Caliber for three weeks without alerting management. The suit claims that, during this time, Evert was “uprooting” fellow Caliber personnel and stealing borrower data to take with him to his new employer.

Planet Home Lending added a new team in San Antonio, led by Hugh Blevins. The branch is Planet Home Lending’s seventh location in the state of Texas.

Panorama Mortgage Group (PMG) announced that Vision Mortgage Group has joined the PMG brand family and Mark Charlton will lead the company as president. A full-service mortgage lender licensed in Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Montana, California, Texas and Florida, Vision Mortgage Group was founded by Charlton in 2021.
