Freddie Mac, Farmer Mac, RE/MAX and Rate are among the mortgage-related companies with recent hires and promotions

Freddie Mac announced that Matthew D. Abrusci has joined the company as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Abrusci formerly served as general counsel at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Americas and previously held senior legal positions at Royal Bank of Canada, Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC and Merrill Lynch & Co.

Farmer Mac, which provides a secondary market for agricultural real estate and housing loans, announced the planned retirement of CEO Bradford T. Nordholm on March 31, 2027. The company also announced that its board of directors has appointed Zachary N. Carpenter as president and chief operating officer, effective immediately. Carpenter, most recently the company’s chief business officer, will take over as CEO when Nordholm retires. Nordholm has served as Farmer Mac’s president and CEO since October 2018.

RE/MAX Holdings Inc., the parent company of real estate brokerage RE/MAX and Motto Mortgage, announced the hiring of Tom Flanagan as chief digital information officer. Flanagan most recently served as chief innovation officer for The Group Inc. Real Estate and was president of its affiliate Group Financial Partners.

Rate announced that Ryan Proffitt has joined the company as producing area manager in Jacksonville, Fla. Proffitt currently serves as vice chair of the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors and is set to become president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Northeast Florida.

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) announced the appointment of Amanda Whitehead as vice president of event strategy and member engagement. Whitehead previously served as a director of events and business development for Etihad Airways, a national airline of the United Arab Emirates, where she managed a $200 million-plus global sponsorship and event portfolio in North America.

Planet Home Lending announced the appointment of John Adams as retail renovation leader, where he will focus on training and supporting the company’s distributed retail loan originators and educating real estate agents nationwide, as well as leading efforts to educate homebuyers on renovation loans.

Equity Prime Mortgage (EPM) announced the promotion of Anjanette Valenta to chief people officer after serving as senior vice president of people operations for the past year.

Choice Mortgage Group announced it is partnering with mortgage coach Tammy Schneider to recruit and mentor top loan originators. Choice, which has opened new offices in New Mexico, Colorado and New Hampshire this year, noted in a press release that Schneider’s approach to coaching integrates business development with balance in family, health and spiritual life.

Prosperity Now, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing economic mobility, including expanding access to homeownership, announced the appointment of Sarah Bacerra as interim chief program officer. Bacerra previously served as chief learning officer for The Center for Respectful Leadership and as a senior consultant with FranklinCovey.
