Wholesale giant debuts added search capabilities, personalized product recommendations

United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) has announced enhancements to ChatUWM, its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered smart search tool for mortgage brokers.

Initially announced in May, ChatUWM offers real-time responses to UWM partners on lending guidelines, articles from UWM’s knowledge base and a variety of other topics. Now, Pontiac, Michigan-based UWM has revealed it has beefed up the AI chatbot with new loan-level features, including the ability to reference a PDF document when engaging in conversation.

For example, if a broker uploads a purchase agreement to ChatUWM, they can then ask, “What are the seller credits?” or “Is the buyer contributing anything additional?” along with other questions in search of key information.

Brokers can also upload a document from a borrower, such as a credit report or W2, and ChatUWM can parse the document and provide product recommendations based on the borrower’s financial details after asking a few follow-up questions. ChatUWM can additionally speed and simplify income calculations through similarly extracting data from uploaded documents, including W2s, self-employed income statements and rental agreements. The bot will also break down how the income was calculated, offering a greater understanding of the borrower’s full financial picture.
