Marcia Davies, chief operating officer of the Mortgage Bankers Association, is set to retire on Dec. 31.

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) announced in a press release Wednesday morning that its chief operating officer, Marcia Davies, will retire on Dec. 31.

The founder of mPower, MBA’s networking platform for women in the real estate finance industry, Davies joined MBA in 2011 as chief of staff to past president and CEO David Stevens and was promoted to COO in 2014.

“Her most vital contribution to MBA was her leadership in restoring financial stability to the association,” noted Bob Broeksmit, current president and CEO of the MBA, in the press release. “Her legacy in the industry will be the founding and development of mPower.”

The platform has grown to 26,000 members since its founding by Davies in 2016 by providing a range of opportunities to promote the advancement of women in the mortgage industry, such as conferences, webinar programming and networking events.

Prior to her tenure at MBA, Davies worked at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a senior adviser to the assistant secretary for housing and federal housing commissioner, directing HUD’s various industry relations programs. Before HUD she worked for 21 years at Freddie Mac.

Broeksmit added he felt “blessed to have her leading by my side for the past seven years.”
