
America’s affordable housing shortage has an accessibility problem
Millions of renters need accessibility features, yet much of the nation’s affordable rental housing remains ill-equipped to meet those needs
Renee M. Willis serves as president and CEO of the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC), a nonprofit committed to securing racially and socially equitable public policy so people in the lowest-income groups can have quality, accessible, and affordable housing in the communities they choose. Previously, she was senior vice president for racial equity, diversity and inclusion, and from 2015 to 2021, she served as vice president for field and communications at NLIHC. With more than 30 years of affordable housing experience, Willis has held leadership roles in local government, advocacy, and nonprofit organizations.
