RE/MAX President Amy Lessinger, a longtime affiliate and company executive who was tapped to lead the real estate business in February of last year, has announced she is resigning from the company, effective Jan. 17. No reason was given for her leaving.
In a statement, the company announced that it had “accepted Amy Lessinger’s resignation as President of RE/MAX, LLC. RE/MAX Holdings CEO Erik Carlson will assume her responsibilities until a successor is named.”
Kimberly Golladay-Cure, director of external communications for RE/MAX, said the company would have no additional comments about the resignation.
The global real estate franchisor has faced difficult financial times in recent years, as revenue and the number of agents working with the company fell. The third quarter of this year marked the ninth straight quarter of decreasing revenue for the company. CEO Erik Carlson spoke of the need for change during a second-quarter earnings call, saying they were looking at all aspects of the business.
Lessing appeared to have a stellar career as a Realtor, joining the company in 1996 and becoming a broker-owner of a RE/MAX office in Reno, which she helped grow to more than 130 agents.
In 2020, Lessing sold her brokerage and joined the RE/MAX corporation as vice president of region development. She led a team supporting company offices and affiliates across 15 Western states. Two years later, she was named senior vice president, supporting all U.S. company-owned operations. She was named president in 2024, leading the RE/MAX network of more than 140,000 agents in more than 110 countries and territories.
