Notable mortgage industry additions and promotions, July 3-7

First American Financial Corp. announced the appointment of Jody Mulkey as chief technology officer. In this new position, Mulkey will oversee First American’s corporate product development team. Prior to joining First American, Mulkey served as CTO at GoodRx. Earlier in his career, he served as CTO at Ticketmaster.

Attom announced the addition of two new members to its executive team: Lauren Trevathan was appointed as the new chief of staff, while Karen Tang joined the company as chief customer officer. With more than 15 years of experience in real estate leadership capacities, Trevathan will be responsible for driving companywide initiatives for Attom, as well as ensuring alignment and success across the organization as a whole. She has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and an MBA from the University of Colorado. Tang will oversee the build-out of Attom’s customer experience, aimed at improving both customer retention and expansion. Prior to joining Attom, Tang was the vice president of customer success at ActiveCampaign and worked for Google for six and a half years. Tang has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Cal Berkeley, a master’s degree in engineering from Case Western Reserve University, and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Hometap announced two senior appointments to its executive leadership team, welcoming Cara Newman as head of structured finance and Josh Gaffney as general counsel. Newman joins Hometap in a newly created role after nearly six years at Redwood Trust Inc., where she served as managing director and head of structured finance. In her role at Hometap, Newman will develop and execute Hometap’s asset capital strategy, finding the best market fit for the company’s home equity investments (HEIs) and leading a team focused on the optimization, structure, pricing and go-to-market approach across various potential investor segments. Gaffney will oversee all strategic and tactical legal initiatives for Hometap. Most recently, Gaffney served as general counsel and chief privacy officer at Banyan, and he previously served as managing counsel for American Express’ global consumer services group.

Brennan Investment Group announced the appointment of Dan Smith as vice president of investments in the Midwest region. In his new role, Smith will be responsible for identifying and sourcing new investment opportunities, including developments, redevelopments and acquisitions, with a primary focus on the Chicago market. Additionally, he will work to expand Brennan’s presence in the Minneapolis and Milwaukee markets to capture key opportunities in these regions. Most recently, he held the position of director of acquisitions and investments at Bridge Industrial.

Wolters Kluwer Compliance Solutions named Vikram Savkar as its new executive vice president and general manager. He is based in the company’s office in Waltham, Massachusetts. Savkar joined Wolters Kluwer in 2012 as vice president and general manager of the company’s legal and regulatory division, helping to accelerate the growth of its international legal business. In 2019, he joined Wolters Kluwer’s health division as senior vice president and general manager, where he was most recently responsible for the medicine segment of the health learning, research and practice business.
