Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, March 28-April 1

Guaranteed Rate announced that it has named veteran marketing executive Sanjay Gupta as its new chief marketing officer and chief digital officer. Gupta will be responsible for running all of Guaranteed Rate’s marketing efforts, including branding, advertising, direct marketing, social media and public relations. In addition, Gupta also will focus on significant scaling of Guaranteed Rate’s consumer direct business. Gupta brings more than two decades of experience at companies including Bank of America, Allstate and Ally Financial. He most recently served as executive vice president and head of client solutions and outcomes at TIAA. A graduate of the University of Mumbai, he received his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas.

Gateless hired Joe Langner as its first president. Langner, a former chief operating officer and chief sales officer at Ellie Mae, has more than 30 years of executive mortgage technology and software experience. Previously, Langner also served as CEO at ReverseVision, CEO at Blue Sage, president at PCLender, executive vice president at Sage and senior vice president at Dun & Bradstreet.

Union Home Mortgage (UHM) announced the appointment of David Barnes to regional manager in the North Carolina and South Carolina markets. In this role, Barnes will recruit and lead sales teams, and assist loan officers with growing personal production. Barnes has more than 30 years of experience in the mortgage industry. Prior to joining UHM, he served as the Southern division sales manager at First National Bank of PA. Barnes earned his bachelor’s degree in management science from Virginia Tech and his master’s degree in business administration from Mount Saint Mary’s College.

FormFree welcomed Mary Costello to its team as director of vendor management, risk and compliance. In this role, Costello will support FormFree’s audit, risk and compliance efforts across the management of internal and external vendor, lender and integration partnerships. Prior to joining FormFree, Costello served 14 years at Veterans United Home Loans.

Chrysalis Holdings LLC announced that Anita Kwan and Katherine Le have joined its board of advisors as chairwoman and vice chairwoman, respectively. Kwan, who previously served as CEO of ComplianceEase, brings more than three decades of corporate and management experience to her new role. Prior to ComplianceEase, Kwan co-founded and led Integrated Capital Group. Le, who has more than 30 years of experience in finance, operations and technology, will take on the role of leading NewDay’s correspondent lending business. She currently serves as CEO of Mortgage Service Providers, and she previously worked as president of Stearns Lending for 16 years.

Panorama Mortgage Group (PMG) announced that Ryan Rathert has joined the firm as chief financial officer. In this role, Rathert will lead PMG’s financial activities, including accounting; financial planning and analysis; tax; investor relations; internal audit; and treasury. He spent the past eight years with Stearns Lending in a variety of positions, including the past four as COO/CFO of the wholesale mortgage channel. His previous roles included production CFO, head of private label operations, and several senior finance and business support positions for Stearns Lending, Wells Fargo and Mr. Cooper. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Iowa.

W. P. Carey Inc. announced the appointment of Constantin H. Beier to its board of directors. He will serve as a member of the audit committee. Beier is the chief data officer and a member of the executive leadership team at Aon. Beier holds a doctoral degree in legal studies from Heidelberg University.

Castle Lanterra Properties (CLP) tapped Gabriel Shiff as the firm’s chief operating officer. Shiff will oversee CLP’s day-to-day operations, including the management of committees, capital-markets and asset-management leadership, oversight of core corporate functions, and assistance with strategic vision and growth initiatives. Prior to joining CLP, Shiff served as COO and chief investment officer at Roseland Residential. Shiff earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
