Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, April 25-29

LoanDepot announced that founder and chairman Anthony Hsieh has been named as executive chairman of the company, while Frank Martell will join LoanDepot as its new president and CEO, a newly created role within the firm. In addition, Martell also has been appointed to LoanDepot’s board of directors. As executive chairman, Hsieh will guide company strategy, complementing Martell’s overall company leadership while maintaining his position as chairman of the board and LoanDepot’s largest shareholder. As president and CEO, Martell will drive daily operations and lead the company’s diversified multichannel mortgage origination model, as well as the mello business unit, which houses the company’s ancillary product and service groups. The company’s executive management team will report to Martell.

Mr. Cooper Group announced the appointment of Jaime Gow as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Gow joined Mr. Cooper Group in 2019 as senior vice president of accounting, financial planning and analysis, and he most recently served as deputy chief financial officer. Before joining Mr. Cooper, Gow served as senior vice president and banking finance executive for First Horizon National Corp. Previously, Gow served as chief accounting officer at Capital Bank, which was acquired by First Horizon in December 2017. Additionally, Mr. Cooper Group also announced that Ethan Elzen has been appointed as executive vice president of business development and operational finance. Elzen previously led the originations finance team and served as the chief financial officer of Xome. Elzen has more than 20 years of experience in the financial-services industry with a specific focus on mortgage, commercial banking, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Mr. Cooper Group, he served as president for Colorado Federal Savings Bank. He previously held key leadership and senior advisory roles for Provident Funding Associates, UBS Investment Bank and Ally Financial.

Newrez announced that it has welcomed Neenu Kainth as chief digital officer. In her new role, Kainth will drive digital adoption to improve the customer experience, optimize cost structures for the loan servicing business and increase client retention for the origination channels. Prior to joining Newrez, she served as chief digital officer at Mr. Cooper. Kainth also has held senior roles at Verizon and Comcast.

Guild Mortgage added branch manager Tim Kay and senior loan officer Paul Camenzind to its team in Overland Park, Kansas. Kay, who has 25 years of experience in residential mortgage lending, joins Guild from Academy Bank, where he served as senior vice president. Camenzind has more than three decades of experience and joins Guild Mortgage from First National Bank of Omaha. Prior to that, he was a loan officer at Mutual of Omaha Mortgage and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.

The wholesale division at First Community Mortgage named Jeff Raich as regional sales manager. With more than 25 years of experience in mortgage lending, Raich is based in McKinney, Texas, and focuses on third-party originator (TPO) lending. Raich earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Southern Illinois University.

Reference Point hired Vicki Bott as a director leading the company’s housing finance offering. She has held leadership roles at Wells Fargo, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Washington Mutual Home Loans. Her most recent role was as executive vice president of regulatory compliance and operational risk at Guaranteed Rate.

Gateless promoted Bryan Jackson, the company’s head of product delivery, to chief technology officer. In this new role, Jackson will drive the creation of new innovations that are focused on pushing more efficiencies into the mortgage process. He has been with Gateless since the company was founded, serving as head of product delivery since 2019. Before joining Gateless, Jackson was chief architect at LoanDepot, and prior to that, he was lead architect at Newgistics/Pitney Bowes and director of engineering at Veritone One.
