Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, Nov. 29-Dec. 3

Fannie Mae announced the appointment of Chryssa C. Halley to executive vice president and chief financial officer. In this role, Halley is responsible for Fannie Mae’s financial management and economic and strategic research functions. The company also announced that Jim L. Holmberg was promoted to senior vice president and controller. In this role, Holmberg will be the company’s principal accounting officer. Both appointments were effective Nov. 29. Halley previously served as Fannie Mae’s senior vice president and controller. Since joining Fannie Mae in 2006, Halley has held a variety of positions, including senior vice president and deputy controller; vice president and assistant controller for capital markets and operations; vice President for tax, debt, derivatives and securities accounting; and vice president for corporate tax. Holmberg joined Fannie Mae in 2009 and has held a number of roles, including vice president of finance accounting and vice president of financial reporting.

PennyMac announced the appointment of Jenny Rhodes as the organization’s managing director and chief human resources officer. Rhodes will lead PennyMac’s strategic mission to attract, grow and retain a diverse workforce to fuel the organization’s success. She joins PennyMac from PNC Bank, where she was senior vice president of human resources. Rhodes started her career with GE Capital in its human resources leadership team. She holds an undergraduate degree from Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines and earned a master’s degree in human resources and industrial relations from the University of Minnesota.

Open Mortgage named Joe Stephenson as its new president. In this newly created position, Stephenson will oversee day-to-day mortgage lending operations for the company, with a strong focus on the company’s continued growth. Stephenson will join Open Mortgage on Dec. 6 after serving as senior vice president of operations for American Advisors Group. During his 28-year career in financial services, Stephenson has held executive-level positions across multiple organizations, including Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and Wells Fargo. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Salisbury University.

Deephaven Mortgage announced that Tim Fisher has joined the company as vice president of business development. Based in Dallas, he is charged with growing Deephaven’s correspondent book of business in Texas and surrounding states. Fisher brings more than 20 years of leadership and management experience in mortgage banking to his new role, including at SG Capital Partners. Most recently, he served as vice president of national accounts for Arch Mortgage Insurance Co. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University.

Compass Inc. announced the appointment of Frank Martell to its board of directors. Martell has more than 30 years of executive leadership experience in the marketing, financial-services and business-information industries. In August 2011, he joined CoreLogic, where he served consecutively as CFO and chief operating officer before his appointment to CEO in March 2017.

OpenClose announced the promotion of April Cave to director of implementation services. In her new role, Cave will be responsible for leading the implementation team and the overall implementation strategy for OpenClose’s suite of digital lending software. She joined OpenClose in 2019 as an integration specialist.
