Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, Jan. 10-14

CoreLogic announced that Pat Dodd, who was previously the company’s chief operating and growth officer, has been promoted to interim president and CEO. Dodd replaces Frank Martell, who will assume the position of non-executive chairman of the CoreLogic board. Prior to joining CoreLogic, Dodd held several senior executive leadership positions at Nielsen and predecessor companies, ultimately rising to chief commercial officer of the Nielsen Global Connect division in January 2019. Dodd earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in economics from the University of Western Ontario.

Zillow Group Inc. announced that Jenny Arden is joining the company as its first chief design officer. Arden will take on a range of design leadership responsibilities, all focused on overseeing Zillow Group’s product design, research and user experience. During her 20-year career, Arden has led creative and design teams at Nike, Lyft and Airbnb.

Guaranteed Rate recently appointed two new divisional managers to oversee operations in its western markets. Ryan Ogata will take on the role of divisional manager overseeing the company’s Northwest market, including Alaska, Oregon, Washington and Northern California. Tim Sorenson will become divisional manager of the company’s Southwest market, including Hawaii, Utah, Nevada and Southern California. Along with this shift, Pat Bolan, who is currently Guaranteed Rate’s divisional manager leading the South Central states, will be expanding his territory to oversee sales in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska. Ogata, who joined Guaranteed Rate in 2017 and served as a regional manager, steps into his new role with more than 20 years of mortgage industry experience. Sorenson, an industry veteran of more than 21 years, also joined the company in 2017, developing and leading teams as a regional manager.

Excelerate Capital announced the promotion of Thomas Yoon to CEO. Yoon will now serve as Excelerate’s CEO and president.

Mortgage Coach announced the promotion of two of its department directors to vice president-level positions. Jacob Gibbs was promoted from director of technology to vice president of technology, while Shannon Baldwin was promoted from director of marketing to vice president of marketing. Gibbs joined Mortgage Coach 15 years ago and is now responsible for leading its development team, managing partner integrations, administering both local and network technology infrastructure, and overseeing Mortgage Coach’s support team. Baldwin was tapped by Mortgage Coach as director of marketing one year ago. Prior to that, she led marketing and events for Optimal Blue for 13 years.

The Calida Group announced the promotion of Josh Nelson to chief investment officer. He will oversee all investments for the company across developments and acquisitions. In this role, Nelson is responsible for overseeing the acquisition, development and asset management-related activities across The Calida Group’s affiliated real estate holdings. He also is a member of Calida’s executive committee and investment committee. Prior to joining Calida, Nelson worked on the corporate development and mergers and acquisitions teams at Liberty Media and Liberty Interactive.
