Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, January 18-January 22

 
MacManus

Money360 has announced that Tom MacManus has been promoted to president and CEO. Current CEO Evan Gentry will step back from day-to-day operations and transition responsibilities, effective April 5. MacManus joined Money360 as President in October 2020 with more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, including serving as president of GMAC Commercial Mortgage and CEO of North American operations. In addition to his work at GMAC, his previous roles include president and chief operating officer at ARA Finance and chairman and CEO at Cushman & Wakefield Sonnenblick Goldman.

 
Zanin

Fannie Mae has announced that Ryan A. Zanin is joining the company as its executive vice president and chief risk officer, effective Feb. 1. Zanin is currently a member of Fannie Mae’s board of directors; in connection with his appointment as chief risk officer, Zanin will resign from the board, effective Jan. 31, 2021. He joins Fannie Mae with more than 30 years of experience in financial services, and more than 20 years of experience in risk management. He served as president and CEO of the Restructuring & Strategic Ventures Group at GE Capital from 2015 until his retirement from General Electric in July 2018. Previously, he served as Chief Risk Officer of GE Capital from 2010 to 2015, and again served in that role from November 2016 until his retirement. Prior to joining GE Capital, Zanin served as managing director and chief risk officer, International Capital Markets, at Wells Fargo & Company from 2008 to 2010, as well as chief risk officer, Corporate and Investment Bank, at Wachovia Corporation from 2006 to 2008. Before that, he spent 14 years in leadership roles across Deutsche Bank AG and Bankers Trust Company.

 
Owens

Nations Lending has selected John Owens as its vice president of strategic growth. Owens will play a critical role in driving production strategy, identifying growth opportunities and tapping into exceptional talent throughout the United States. With over 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry, Owens has served in many roles, most recently leading national recruiting at Academy Mortgage for the last five years.

 
Christensen

Red Oak Financial has added David K. Christensen as regional manager, Northwest, based in San Francisco. His responsibilities at Red Oak will include leading commercial real estate loan origination efforts for the firm’s bridge lending programs, encompassing deal analysis, underwriting, as well as structured financing. Christensen most recently served as the Northwest regional director for Money360; prior to that, Christensen served at Berkadia as vice president, mortgage banking, for the firm in its San Francisco office. His mortgage and real estate experience also includes roles at Alison Company, Mass Mutual, Jones Lang Lasalle, Grubb & Ellis Company and HSH Nordbank. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing at Chapman University.

 
Mueller

Atlantic Home Mortgage (AHM) announced Steve Mueller has joined the company’s Alpharetta, Georgia, branch as a mortgage loan officer. Mueller was in the industry for more than five years in the early 2000s before spending over six years as operations director for Georgia Mountain Food Bank.

 
Sinha

Greystone has announced that Pranika Uppal Sinha has joined the company as its first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) managing director, effective Jan. 19. Sinha joins Greystone from Occidental Petroleum Corp in Houston, where she spent nine years in various roles, most recently as senior manager of talent development & inclusion. Prior to Occidental, Sinha held talent development and diversity-focused roles at Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston and 21st Century Consulting, Inc., in Chicago.

Denner

Marcus & Millichap announced it has named Evan Denner executive vice president and head of business of the firm’s financing subsidiary, Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation (MMCC). Denner’s nearly 30-year tenure in the commercial real estate industry includes 23 years of capital markets and financing experience. Since 2019, he has served as Marcus & Millichap’s head of corporate strategy. Denner’s experience includes a leadership position at Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group, CEO of the U.S. arm of Hypo Real Estate Capital Corporation and head of merchant banking at Cantor Fitzgerald. He also co-founded mortgage REIT Quadra Realty Trust, where he served as the company’s CEO.

Avanze Group has announced that it has hired Lisa Donahue as vice president of national sales and client success. In this role, Donahue will be responsible for direct sales and strategic account management. She brings over 30 years in the title and settlement services industry and 15 years in business development to Avanze; she most recently worked at SLK Global Solutions as the vice president of sales for the title and tax division. Previously, she also held leadership sales positions at ERNST and ISGN/Fiserv Lending Solutions.

 
Jackman

SimpleNexus has hired Richard Jackman to its executive team as vice president of marketing. In this role, Jackman will lead the company’s strategic marketing plan and expand SimpleNexus’ market share in the mortgage sphere. Immediately before joining SimpleNexus, Jackman, who brings over two decades of marketing leadership experience to SimpleNexus, served as vice president of marketing at Simplifile.

Reverse mortgage startup Notaroo has expanded its executive team with the hires of Bob Larson as chief technology officer and John Connell as chief operations officer. Larson worked previously as vice president of software development at Ministry Brands and as director of software development at Kinetic Advantage. Connell worked previously as executive vice president of Ministry Brand’s Growth division. Larson will be responsible for overseeing the building of technologies that bridge the gap in HECM loan closings. Connell will manage marketing, business development and customer success, while also overseeing product management.
