Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, June 14-June 18

Sprout Mortgage has announced the appointment of Michael R. Johnston to the newly created position of head of distributed retail. Based in Miami, he comes to Sprout after more than two decades at Wells Fargo in home mortgages, most recently, as Southeast division manager. Prior to that, he served as vice president – regional sales manager in Wells Fargo’s Miami and Philadelphia regions. Prior to Wells Fargo, Johnston was a sales manager for PNC Bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from the University of Connecticut.

Homeowners Financial Group has hired Leonard Cullip as West regional manager. Cullip brings 33 years of experience and will lead efforts to continue expansion in the western region, overseeing the California, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Hawaii markets. Prior to joining HFG, Cullip served as senior vice president of strategic growth with Guaranteed Rate. Cullip has also held senior roles at Stearns Lending, PrimeLending and Bank of America.

CMG Financial has announced the hire of Dan Humes as area sales manager. In his new position, he will help grow CMG Financial’s presence across north and east Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. Humes has over seven years of financial services experience and most recently served as market leader at Movement Mortgage.

Cherry Creek Mortgage announced that Jessica Fritts has joined the company as sales manager and senior loan officer licensed in Oregon, Washington and California. Fritts, who will be based out of the Lake Oswego office near Portland, Oregon, began her career in mortgage lending in 2002 while studying finance and economics at the University of Portland. Prior to joining Cherry Creek Mortgage, she worked as senior loan officer at Guild Mortgage.

Highlands Residential Mortgage has announced that Tim Bartosh has joined its executive production leadership team. He comes to Highlands after more than 10 years as executive vice president at HomeBridge Financial Services, leading the Western region. Bartosh also led CTX Mortgage in the 1990s and 2000s as chairman and CEO.

Proper Rate has named Michael Waldman as a senior vice president of mortgage lending to serve borrowers and business partners in Chicago. Waldman joins Proper Rate with more than 25 years of mortgage industry experience, most recently as senior vice president of mortgage lending at CrossCountry Mortgage. He has also held positions at CIBC US and PERL Mortgage. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Adelphi University.

Guaranty Home Mortgage Corporation has announced the addition of Michael George as chief analytics officer. He brings more than 23 years’ experience in the mortgage lending industry. He joins GHMC from First Guaranty Mortgage Corporation, where he served as vice president of wholesale operations. He previously spent 13 years at Franklin American Mortgage Company (Citizens Bank). He is a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in economics and business foundation.

Black Knight’s board of directors has appointed Anthony Jabbour to serve as chairman of the board in addition to his role as CEO. Prior to joining Black Knight, Anthony served as the chief operating officer of FIS’ Banking and Payments business. He has also held leadership positions at IBM and CIBC. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto.
