Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, October 4-October 8

Interfirst Mortgage Company has named Tony Santangelo vice president, regional wholesale production for the East Coast. Santangelo, who will be based in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, will be responsible for hiring and training outside sales account executives to grow the company’s wholesale market share and client base across the East Coast. He brings 34 years of mortgage industry experience to Interfirst, most recently as area manager for Symmetry. Previously, he has also held leadership rules at LoanStream Wholesale, Pacific Union Financial and Homeward Residential Client Select.

Guaranteed Rate has named Kari Phillips as a branch manager and senior vice president of mortgage lending in Las Vegas. Phillips brings 20 years of mortgage industry experience to her new role, most recently as director at RateWise Mortgage. She earned an MBA from the University of Toledo.

Guild Mortgage has added Leighann Walsh as a senior loan officer to its branch in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Walsh joins Guild from Caliber Home Loans; prior to Caliber, Walsh worked in sales with MetLife Home Loans and processed and closed mortgages for North American Mortgage Company. She earned a bachelor of business administration degree from York College.

Proper Rate has added Jim Linnane as chief production officer. Linnane, who joins the Proper Rate team with more than 34 years of mortgage industry experience, was previously national retail president at Stearns Lending. Prior to Stearns, Linnane held roles as director of national sales at Guaranteed Rate and senior vice president and division manager at Wells Fargo. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.

Geneva Financial has announced the promotion of Rachel Caple to chief sales and revenue officer. In her new position, Caple will oversee and maximize the effectiveness of Geneva’s revenue and sales. Caple will also work hand-in-hand with Geneva’s chief marketing officer to expand talent acquisition and strategically target markets for growth and development in support of new and existing branches.

UMortgage has added learning and development training coach David Higgins to its team as senior learning specialist. Higgins will work on creating end-to-end learning experiences to help loan originators, leadership, and team members best serve their customers. Prior to joining UMortgage, he spent six years at United Wholesale Mortgage.

Merchants Mortgage has announced the promotion of Lynne Coverdale to mortgage loan originator. Coverdale previously served as a mortgage closer on the Processing team. She brings over three decades of experience to her new role at Merchants Mortgage, where she will consult with clients and prospects regarding their home borrowing needs. Prior to Merchants Mortgage, she was a resource ambassador for Gaylor Electric; mortgage loan officer for Centier Bank; and senior mortgage consultant for Salin Bank & Trust. She is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in business administration management. She also received an MBA in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Flueid has announced Danielle Sandoval as vice president of product strategy, effective immediately. In this leadership role, Sandoval will be responsible for driving the ongoing growth and evolution of Flueid’s solutions suite. Sandoval reports directly to Flueid co-founder and CEO Peter Bowman.
