Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, August 31-September 4

Russell

Common Securitization Solutions (CSS) has announced that Juanita Russell and Jina Hong have joined the firm as chief financial officer and chief audit executive, respectively. As CFO, Russell will provide direction and management for CSS’s finance and accounting teams. She brings more than 25 years of experience to CSS, including 21 years at MERSCORP Holdings, Inc. where she served as senior vice president and CFO from 2011 to 2018. She has a BS in accounting from the University of Maryland and an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School. In the CAE role, Hong has company-wide oversight for all internal audit-related activities and responsibility for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes. She brings 20 years of audit experience to CSS, most recently as head of global audit methodology for HSBC. Prior to that, she held internal audit leadership positions at Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers Japan, Credit Suisse Singapore and ANZ Bank Australia. She holds a BCom degree from the University of New South Wales.

 
Buchanan

Guaranteed Rate has named Marc Buchanan as a vice president of mortgage lending in Atlanta. Previously with Wells Fargo, Buchanan joins Guaranteed Rate with over 20 years of mortgage and finance industry experience. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Georgia State University.

 
Bloom

Guaranteed Rate Affinity, the joint origination venture between Guaranteed Rate and Realogy, has named Bill Bloom as a vice president of mortgage lending to serve borrowers in the Virginia, Maryland and D.C. areas. Based out of Ellicott City, Maryland, joins Guaranteed Rate Affinity with over 17 years of mortgage industry experience.

 
Turnquest

Promontory MortgagePath has added Scott Turnquest as its new chief technology officer. In his new role, Turnquest will oversee strategy and development for Promontory MortgagePath’s fintech offerings. He brings more than 20 years of tech experience to the role, coming to Promontory MortgagePath from Kindur, where he also served as chief technology officer. Prior to Kindur, Turnquest held senior engineering leadership positions at GitHub and Earnest. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Macalester College and a Master of Science in software engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Hollie

Mid America Mortgage has announced that Julas Hollie has joined the company as sales director for the Correspondent Lending division. In the role, Hollie will be responsible for increasing loan acquisitions through strategic marketing and customer outreach. He brings over 20 years of experience to the position. Previously, he served as an account manager for business development at Essent Guaranty, and has also held roles at First American Title and Fannie Mae.

 
Mearman

First Community Mortgage has named Atlanta-based Stephen Mearman as assistant vice president. He has more than a decade of industry experience, including ownership of his own mortgage brokerage. Mearman graduated from the University of Plymouth with a degree in business information management systems.

 
Fontanazza

Walker & Dunlop, Inc. and GeoPhy have announced the expansion of their multifamily appraisal business, Apprise, with the addition of senior directors John Wu and Anthony Fontanazza. Based in Chicago, Wu is part of Apprise’s affordable housing practice group and brings over 13 years of experience in valuing Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) subsidized and market rate properties. Prior to joining Apprise, Wu, who has been active in the real estate appraisal field since 1998, worked within the multifamily practice of CBRE’s Valuation and Advisory Group, specializing in multifamily rental assets. Fontanazza is based in South Florida and is focused on valuing multifamily assets of all types in markets throughout Florida. Before joining Apprise, he was part of the Multifamily Valuation Team at Colliers International.
