Industry Watch: Chase’s new Lock and Shop product, Freddie launches HeritageOne and more

UMortgage added Wilmington, North Carolina-based MC Mortgage Group to its nationwide mortgage platform. MC Mortgage will bring a team of 10 loan originators serving North Carolina and South Carolina to the UMortgage platform.

Chase Home Lending announced an expansion of its portfolio of resources for potential homebuyers. Among the new and updated resources is the bank’s Lock and Shop offering, which allows borrowers to lock in a mortgage rate for 90 days with no upfront fee when using Chase Homebuyer Advantage. Customers must find a home within 60 days and will have the option of a one-time float-down if rates improve.

Freddie Mac announced the launch of a new mortgage product to support members of Native American communities. HeritageOne will provide affordable financing options for single-family properties on tribal lands in rural areas, creating greater access to homeownership. The agency will also provide financial counseling and other resources to members of Native American tribes, especially first-time homebuyers. To qualify for a HeritageOne mortgage, at least one borrower in the household must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized Native American tribe who will occupy the property as a primary residence.
