The updated text of a colossal housing reform bill — widely held as one of the most bipartisan pieces of legislation in years — was unveiled by committee leadership in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives this week, with the Senate voting to consider the amended text by a margin of 87 to 8 on Tuesday evening.
The Senate then agreed Thursday to invoke cloture on the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act by an 84-8 tally, a procedural move that sets the stage for a final floor vote.
