Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, Nov. 28-Dec. 2

NewFed Mortgage added Jim Janczy as executive vice president and chief production officer. He will be responsible for the company’s sales and marketing teams. He started off working in the mortgage industry as a loan officer with Bay Bank, then founded South Coast Financial Group in 1996 and served as CEO. More recently, Janczy worked with Home Point Financial, Wells Fargo and Envoy Mortgage.

Nations Lending announced the addition of originator Eric Flores, a 29-year lending veteran. Flores, who specializes in U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs loans, spent more than 10 years as a senior mortgage consultant at Union Home Mortgage before joining Nations Lending. He also served 26 years in the Indiana Army National Guard, including two combat tours in Iraq in 2003 and 2008.

Waterstone Mortgage Corp. named Chik Quintans as director of digital marketing. In his new role, Quintans will oversee the development and implementation of Waterstone’s overall digital marketing strategy, including customer acquisition and retention, lead generation, online reputation management, search engine optimization, social media, email and SMS/mobile marketing. He has more than 25 years of mortgage experience in sales and marketing, previously serving as director of sales for Shelter Mortgage, as digital marketing manager for Absolute Mortgage and as digital marketing manager for USA Mortgage.

M&T Bank appointed Sam Bluso to lead its new Institutional real estate group. He will focus on expanding M&T’s corporate real estate business. As head of institutional real estate, Bluso will deliver lending and capital-markets solutions to real estate investment trusts (REITs) and investment real estate fund clients. Prior to joining M&T Bank, he served as the head of People’s United Bank’s REIT corporate finance and banking team. Previously, Bluso also served as a managing director in the debt capital markets group at Citizens Bank. He earned his MBA, with a concentration in finance, as well as his bachelor’s degree in economics, from Kent State University.

Thorofare Capital named Laura Corush as managing director of investor relations. Prior to joining Thorofare, Corush led investor relations for Maxim Capital Group and Vested Inc., and she worked as an associate at Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group. She earned a master’s degree from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
