Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, March 21-25

Freddie Mac announced that Wendell Chambliss has been appointed as senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer. In this newly created role, Chambliss will be responsible for programs and initiatives to bring greater diversity, equity and inclusion to the company and to the housing industry. Chambliss currently serves as vice president and deputy general counsel for mission, strategic business advisory and government affairs within Freddie Mac’s legal division. He joined Freddie Mac in 1999 and built his legal experience as a staffer in the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives and through a number of years in private practice. Chambliss received his law and undergraduate degrees from Tulane University. He will start his new position on April 11.

ServiceLink expanded its leadership team by appointing Jamie Rey-Hipolito as vice president of single-family rental. Rey-Hipolito brings more than 20 years of experience in multifamily, single-family and iBuyer asset management, most recently as vice president of operations for Afton Properties and as vice president of operations for Invitation Homes. In her new role, Rey-Hipolito will be responsible for expanding ServiceLink’s single-family rental solutions for investors and clients.

Clear Capital announced two senior executive personnel moves focused on product delivery. Mei Ling was hired as the company’s first executive vice president of egineering and Cathy Wright was promoted to executive vice president of product. Ling, who has more than 20 years of experience leading global software development teams, will oversee the development and execution of Clear Capital’s software-as-a-service platform, cloud-based data and analytics solutions, web applications, mobile solutions and mobile enterprise application platform. She is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to joining Clear Capital, Ling was a technical advisor at Purple, spent three and a half years as head of engineering at auto insurance provider Good2Go and served as vice president of engineering at Punchh. Additionally, she spent more than a decade serving in various roles at Office Depot. Wright was hired as vice president of product management in October 2020 and currently leads Clear Capital’s field valuation, real estate analytics, platform and solutions product teams. In her new role, Wright will continue to grow Clear Capital’s product management team and capabilities.

OptiFunder named Jon Rutila as chief revenue officer. He will lead sales and marketing functions for the fintech company and grow its national sales team, among other duties. Rutila brings more than 20 years of experience in mortgage lending and mortgage solutions sales. During his tenure at Altisource, he served as vice president of mortgage and real estate solution sales and as vice president of the mortgage builder software division. Prior to that, Rutila was the national accounts director for First American Mortgage Services.

Ascendant National Title announced that Theresa Root has joined the company as senior vice president of national operations. In this new role, Root will focus on managing the operations, process and workflow for the company’s title and closing operations. Root has more than 29 years of experience in the areas of local operations management, large-scale complex operations, vendor management and process improvement. Prior to joining Ascendant, she served as vice president of operations for Solidifi Title. She also has served as Arizona operations manager for OS National and as vice president and senior director at Stewart Title.

Greystone announced new senior hires for its commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) platform. Russ Avery joined the firm as head of structuring for the CMBS team and is based in New York City. He comes from Deutsche Bank, where he was a director of CMBS. Prior to that, Avery worked in securitization at Deloitte. Tricia Baker, Clark Andresen and Chris Troutman all joined Greystone as managing directors based in Charlotte, with each bringing specialized expertise in CMBS. Baker will serve as head of transaction management for Greystone’s CMBS platform after her previous role as a partner at law firm Alston & Bird. Andresen joins Greystone from CCRE (a unit of Cantor Fitzgerald), having served as a managing director there. Troutman comes from Regions Bank, where he also was a managing director.
