Zillow has announced two significant leadership changes, promoting Jun Choo to chief operating officer and bidding farewell to longtime executives Susan and Matt Daimler.
Choo, who joined Zillow in 2015 following its acquisition of Trulia, will now oversee Zillow’s for-sale business strategy, which includes its mortgage team. With more than two decades of real estate tech experience space, Choo previously served as the company’s senior vice president of real estate software, where he played a key role in developing products and initiatives like premium Zillow Showcase listings and Premier Agent market-based pricing.
“I’m honored to step into this role and continue supporting our company’s growth,” said Choo. “With more than two-thirds of U.S. homebuyers on Zillow, we are seizing our incredible opportunity to deliver a more tech-enabled and integrated experience to get more people home. Our industry software offerings are unmatched and we will continue to invest in new solutions that help modernize the real estate experience through Zillow’s housing super app.”
Meanwhile, the Daimlers, who co-founded the real estate tech startup Buyfolio (acquired by Zillow in 2012), are departing the company after 12 years of service.
“When you’re barreling down the track at 100+ MPH and you love your crew and the ride has just the right mix of turns, dips, comfort and exhilaration, it’s nearly impossible to get off,” Susan wrote on LinkedIn. “But after twelve years at Zillow the time is right to make the leap and embrace new adventures. When Zillow acquired our company twelve years ago, not even my wildest imagination could have foreseen what was ahead for Z and my career.”
