The long and winding 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is back in the Senate’s lane after the U.S. House of Representatives advanced a revised version of the bipartisan housing package on May 20.
But “there’s still work to be done,” declared senators Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., following the House’s 396-13 vote, implying further delays for a bill that has hit multiple legislative speed bumps over the past year.
Valerie Saunders, chief of staff at the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB), hopes the two chambers of Congress can reach an agreement on the omnibus bill that broadly seeks to increase housing supply and reduce homebuying costs while cutting regulatory red tape.
